Breeding market error

    Hi all, sorry if this is a noob question. It's my first time attempting to breed some of my horses and every time I go to register the male I get this error msg

    "You cannot do this with a rented mount"

    What does this mean? He's at full health and stamina, no gear, not connected to anything, there is a slot in the stable, he has 2 breeds...??

    Am I missing something or is this a bug

    Update: still receiving this error. It has happened on one male I got from an event emblem and separately on one female caught in the wild. Really bummed because I leveled them in order to breed
