Cannot access my character, it's disappeared in the menu

The game crashed and upon logging back in I could no longer see my character in the character selection screen, there was only the option to create a new one. I've checked my profile data on the main website and it is still there but I can no longer access it

However, services should be back up & running now and you should see a gift in your mailbox as an apology for the unscheduled maintenance.
