I use sony vegas pro 10
to record i use fraps
if i need some effect/intro i use adobe after effect (rarely)
=)

about the resolution i had the same problem. but i found that on youtube, 720p quality = 1280*720 resolution
so you must put 1280*720 resolution both, on your client to record with fraps AND on your sony vegas project.
when you compile the video, you must put 1280*720 too.

and then you would have a decent quality.

ps: dunno for the 1080p my laptop is too laggy to make it
