Cleric or Chanter

Let's take an example...same gear..no manastones no + on gear
I heard from people in the game : "Cleric does more damage than chanter" (how come)
I'm new in Priest tree really but i read a bit about both of them...
Cleric is a good support and at damage he is a bit better than templar but is very hard to kill...
Chanter are good support and also deal a good DPS...
How come cleric does more dps than chanter?
Is that right?
And why should i pick one and not the other...can anyone help me with some good advices?

I rather prefer a bit more damage(so chanter) but if cleric does more..i would pick him...
Actually i got both of them but i'm not so sure which one to play as main(and for now i'm dumb on both)

 

Chanter is a hitter and support type while Cleric is only a support type. Basically Chanter has more lot damage than Cleric.. I would suggest go for chanter.

 

All depends on which playstyle you prefer, both can output reasonable damage but isnt the highest damage class in the game.

Cleric is more effecient as a support class, providing heals and dispells to your group. Though they can go offensive, it's not viable if you're on full support stigmas and mres manastones. Making cleric damage build leaves them more vulnerable to debuffs and heal less. Either way, clerics damage is mainly focused on magical damage overtime for its short cooldown skills, it does have bursts damage but generallly long cooldown like call lightning (2mins).

On the other hand, chanters is a physical damage class so they need to be close to your opponent. Unlike clerics damage over time (dot), chanter is damage per second type (dps) class. Once again the class isnt heavily focused on burst damage, it can stall and maintain moderate damage output through reduction shields and heals. Chanter can also be useful in groups while still running offensive builds, due to mantras and some other buff skills.

If you want classes that are very offensive focused playstyle, dont think priests are suitable for you. There are alternatives like songweaver, sorcerers, gladiator and gunslingers whom can draw out more burst damage.
