I've given this some more thought and it continues to bother me.

After investigating the matter further I suspect it's well within the realms of possibility for Byaringan to achieve the animation rate he had, on the other hand I'm also quite certain that people with less favourable connections/setups would happily abuse "oh l33t ping" as a fallback for hacking.

My problem as an overseer is where to draw the line in the sand. Am I willing to sacrifice some innocent players to ensure the less honest ones don't have a fallback? Or do the rights of the innocent outweigh that?

There is no simple answer to that despite what some of our slightly more provocative users attempting to garner attention would like to believe and it is something that we will need to dwell on. For the time being bans of this nature will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

I have reversed Byaringan's ban.
