Extendables for Assassins

So i was wondering, why is the Dagger(Extending)+Sword(non-extending) doesn't work the way they should be?
I mean back in the old days of Aion, assassins usually use this types of weapons and their attack range are farther(the range of a normal extending weapon).
But now i noticed it doesn't work that way anymore, is this a "bug" or is this how it works now? If so whats the use of this Provenance Dagger then?

If somebody could explain why, then that would be a great help for me.
(cause i already bought the prov dagger and i don't want it to go to waste ).

Things were changed long time ago, apparently was never meant to be like that. You need x2 extendable weapons to have a longer hitting range.
