Here's my fix to the problem (as i just got it fixed a minute ago):

Most people having this kind of problem were able to play the game previously but not until they either reinstall their OS or update their OS and it seems to trigger conflict with the AION game codings, i surf the net to find fix and review and most comment point it out on the DIRECTX installed on the users PC much more on WINDOWS7 users which DIRECTX is on 11 and it seems that AION will have conflict as it's built for 9.0.

So to shorten it up, what i did is this:

You cannot actually uninstall DirectX 11 but what you might try is removing the registry key that windows uses to identify location and info concerning directx 11 and then installing a copy of directx 9.0c from say a game or software cd/dvd and then reboot your win7. Remember it is good practice to backup the registry area before committing changes to it. Begin looking at this line in the registry:

To uninstall Directx 11 do this, open the Registry Editor by running Regedit from Start > Run. Next, navigate to the following registry key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DirectX. Delete this DirectX folder, exit the Registry Editor (at this point I think you might want to try installing DX9.0c because in Win7 the DirectX is directly tied in with your video drivers and if you reboot without some directx installed I have no idea how the video system will respond) and then restart your PC.
This is the only possible way I can see that might work to change DX in Win7. I hope it works for you. (as it works fine for me =) )
