    Hi,

I'd like to ask if there is a way to reduce the graphic effects in a certain map. I have a problem with tiamat's stronghold, at tabatha, when the floor gets completely on fire. The animation gets really intense and my pc starts to lag and can't really keep up with it.

Usually I'd say "who cares, once he's dead animations go off and I'm fine", but the problem is that I'm a healer and me lagging is kinda out of the question. I can manage to keep everyone alive if I'm running with my legion, but if I join outside groups it can get ugly...

Now, my graphic settings are already set to the lowest and I have "display effects" set for self. However this doesn't seem to block or reduce the effects for the floor in tabhata's room.

I tried to google it, and I found out that some people on retail complained about this too, but I couldn't find any answer...

If someone has any idea on how to help me, please do tell :D

Would help if you screenshoted your graphics settings and posted hardware specs. I also have this issue on retail (sorc so not so critical) but my laptop isnt exactly the best (rancora is a laggfest).

It could theoretically be possible to remove the floor animation through client side edit, with the downside that you wouldn't be able to tell when and what parts of the floor are on fire. Either way, show your settings first (if it takes scrolling, show 2 screenshots)

    This are my graphic settings.

    My pc is Intel core duo E8400 @3.0Ghz 2gb ram;
and my graphic card is an Ati Radeon Hd 4600 and it says total memory 1279 (512+767)

As for the fact that I wouldn't be able to tell when the floor is on fire, well I can tell it by the boss' hp, more or less XD

Your pc is definitely getting old. The processor is still better than some laptops but 512mb dedicated graphics memory (standard today is 2-3gb) and 2gb ram (standard today is 8-16gb for desktops) are pretty outdated

Aion in itself is very RAM hungry and 2gb alone can barely support your operating system, let alone the game. Getting 2x 4gb 1333mhz (max speed you can support) would be a great improvement, though you would have to install a 64bit operating system to support it.

Speaking of which, what windows are you running?

I know it's old XD But I'm actually managing to play quite fine, except for that nasty room XD

I'm running windows 7, I wanted to get more ram and change to 64 bit operation system; but when I started to look for it I got lost among the various kinds of ram and gave up XD

About the client side edit you suggested, would it be lecit?

Yea it doesn't affect gameplay in any way, same as removing your armor's combat stance glow effects when it makes you lagg like hell during the toggle etc. It is purely visual. The harder part would be finding it in the client xd

Anyways the RAM part isn't so hard. If you post your motherboard model I can find the maximum capacity and supported speeds for it. I already found that your processor can only take 1333mhz, think max capacity will be 8gb. You can run a program like Speccy or CPU-Z to find the model if you aren't sure. The types don't really matter as long as you buy a pair of the same RAM sticks (most are sold in pairs these days since they are dual channel and work together). Did more research into CAS Latency of RAM sticks too and seems like they don't even matter. The difference between the fastest RAM with lowest latency and slowest RAM with highest latency was like 2% in performance which is insignificant. The results are here:
    CL9 vs CL11: what's the difference? - Memory - Memory

What really matters is the total RAM capacity in gb xd

At least you got 2 full gb, I have 1.5 gb, my graphic card is integrated in here ASRock > G31M-S R2.0 with Pentium Dual 2.00 GHz

And I play laggy but well, can't do much when I face zergs xD

So, uhm motherboard AsusTek computer inc P5Q
    chipset intel P45/P43/G45/G43 Rev A2
    southbridge intel 82801JR (ICH10R) Rev 00
    LPCIO W83667HG

That's what it says in cpu-z XD

Idk if it's relevant or not, but I discovered that I have 2 OCZ DDR2 rams of 1024 each, Max bandwidth pc2-6400 (400 Mhz)

so your motherboard is Asus P5Q
    ASUS - P5Q

    4 x DIMM, max. 16GB, DDR2 1200 / 1066 / 800 / 667 MHz

Basically saying you have 4 RAM slots, only 2 of them are used atm, max you can support is 16gb RAM and the max speed is 1200mhz DDR2 type. The max bandwidth is your speed per 1 RAM stick. 400mhz on yours basically means your RAM is 800mhz (you always double this number because it is dual channel, the 2 sticks work together)
