Let's say I'm an Assassin and the alliance leader.

    Here's the alliance for example:

    Assassin (Me)
    Sorcerer
    Spirit Master
    Cleric
    Chanter
    Templar

Before we enter an instance I said "You guys can have all the items by class rolling for it. Except for one item I want, okay?".

We killed several bosses and all I did was pass on every item they roll. Until to the boss that have the item I want.

We killed the boss and dropped the item what I want, a leather armor then I clicked only the other drops, not the leather armor.

After they rolling, I switched the distribution settings to Leader and Normal to get my leather armor safely from non-class rolling fiasco.

The question is, was the last action I did is legal and allowed? Not jail-able or ban-able?

I'm asking this because I'm about to turn my account into VIP temporarily for equipment hunting from instances.

Hoping the AMs reading this and answer this question.

As long as you explained the intentions and didn't leave the alliance right after, I'd say it's all good. The problem in most cases is the failure in communication, some people simply don't read, or the leaders don't communicate. If your group members raged at you (which would explain why you posted this) then it was because of some misunderstanding in your communication, which can potentially lead to drama, but as far as illegal actions go, you're clean and good.

Ninja looting is the action of taking an item without the group's consent, without warning them you want the item, or if you warned them and there was someone else wanting it, just taking the item without proper distribution, and then leaving the group and disappearing. I also like to point out that conspiring with other group members to not share loot with the rest of the group, etc. is considered ninja looting as well. Just a heads up, hoping I answered your question! =P
