Having trouble getting bird meat from seagulls

The last hunting dailies require you to make lure trap which requires bird meat (only available from [wild] seagulls). Getting bird meat was a pain before if you didn't shoot the bird just barely off the ground it seems the gathering interaction wasn't available. Now I have had mobs gathering interaction points be pretty far from where the mob fell. This isn't normally a problem with hunting mobs that are on the ground though. What i'm thinking is happening is this you shoot seagull in the sky and that is where the interaction is at and you being land bound have no way to retrieve your goods. Lately it has gotten much worse as the seagulls are all high in the air none now dip low enough for you to attempt to kill close to ground. I have killed countless birds and been unable to get the meat. Glad I got some extra previously but could this fixed please?
