Irritating graphical poopfest (Need halp)

Ok so I've been trying to figure out the solution to an error for a while now.

If I run Aion as the Default graphical engine, everything is great. Doesn't matter what settings I use, everything runs smooth as ever.

If I run Aion with the High Quality engine, I run into some problems. The basic issue is that things take an unbearably long time to load. Npcs wont appear for a while, sometimes terrain won't be there so it looks like I'm walking on air, and worst of all, if I try to preview items, my clothing room interface is at like 1 FPS, it takes a minute or two just for the item I want to preview to appear.

Now heres the thing: My computer isn't amazing, but I know it can run the High engine fine. Back when we were still testing 2.5 or 2.6 or whatever the hell, I could run the High engine with nearly every setting maxed out and I had no issues whatsoever. Less players, so less graphical intensity, but theres a line where that shouldn't matter.

I even restarted the client MULTIPLE times to set my graphic settings to lower and lower qualities (while still on the High quality engine) to see if it would change. It did not. Even when I had it on the lowest settings which is lower quality than what I use with the default engine, everything STILL loaded horrendously slow, while everything loads instantaneously on the default graphics engine.

I'm assuming Aion is trying to throttle the graphics or something so they don't all bullrush my PC so to speak, and normally I'd love for a game to do that, like any other MMO does, but this is absolutely ridiculous.

Anyway, does anyone have any idea what may be causing this issue? I would really love to have it fixed. Oh, and for reference, Teilak already provided me his bin32 and bin64 folders. Changing them out did really absolutely nothing to help, if that comes up as a possible fix.

That isn't always the case.
Back when 2.5 just came out, I updated mine to the latest before turning on HQ. It was diarrhea.

Found a hotfix of an older version later, and it was silky smooth.




MORAL: Don't always trust latest drivers.

 

Your bin folders would play no role in that problem. Tell him to supply you his (system.cfg) remember your resolution might be diff so just change it around once you get it. I would give you mine but it has hidden goodies in it. jk

But yeah its either that or it can also be your pc's ram alot of people fail to see that games dont completely depend on your graphics card but also on your ram.

 

I know ._. but the underlying issue doesn't seem to be my PC's performance. If I put on the High Quality engine and my FPS dropped to 4 I'd shit a brick and never put it on again, but that isn't the case. I know my computer can run the HQ engine as I've seen it do before and I run RIFT on close to max settings, regardless of how much it hates me for it. I don't get great FPS, but its more than playable (20~ish) and my computer never has memory crashes or anything like that from doing it.

This, on the other hand is just a weird error.

@ghost: Installing drivers now, that may very well be whats wrong as I had to reinstall windows a week or two ago, I was sure I updated all my drivers but its very possible that I forgot to do a complete update on my video drivers. Will update momentarily.

 

Strange... I've had the same issue. My new laptop (everything is of course updated, I play crysis 2 no problem lulz @_@!) will sometimes take 1-5 MINUTES to load characters on a new map.

I had originally guessed it might be drivers but shrugged it off as I was sure mine were up to date (but I guess I really hadn't updated video drivers since the reinstall). Everything seems to be working flawlessly now.

Such a simple fix ._. probably should've just tried it before asking. Either way, I appreciate the help <3
