Lvl 55 Eq with Lvl 1

So, I didn't play for a long time. The first thing that bothers me is the question if the rates are higher than normal? When I last played I needed more than 1 minute to reach lvl 9. And what is that strange lvl 55 equipment my new character wears? I can't put my eq down, because I'm only lvl 20 and not 55. Is there a way to unequip it without reaching lvl 55?

I'm very confused.

 

You can unequip it by equipping another gear adapted to your level.
But i wouldn't advice it; as a matter of fact this lvl 55 gear is way better than any gear you could get untill you reach lvl 55; keep it while you're leveling, it will help you =)

Like Kretia mentioned, I would advise against trying to unequip the gears until you're level 55+.
To solve your confusion, they're starter gears that was added in to provide a easier experience for new players and leveling up. The gears, Archon Primus Pilus are level 55 PvP abyss items. This feature was first introduced during our 4.0 update.

 

Alright, but was the rate a bit lower before 4.0? I got the feeling that it was. o,,o
So I keep lvling with it up to 55 ~ and then yay for armor searching. :3

If anything. The rates stayed the same but the basic exp you get rose. So yes. Leveling is like 10% easier
