Hello GameZ. I played Retail quite a bit and one thing that stood out about being inherently wrong with live was that if players crafted life skill tools and resources, they often cost as much to make if not more than the life skill tool is worth. BDO live counted on tons of players all lifeskilling together to supply certain materials or tools & resources to the market. Cheaper tools, generally meant cheaper values on the products being crafted or harvested however, it meant that crafting goods as a means of making silver was worthless. Historically, the only life skill items that were worth crafting were 1) fishing poles, 2) life-skill clothes, 3) various foods (finished products) and 4) Alchemy goods (finished products). However, there are many more things that can be crated that players could make decent money. Currently, the cost of crafting an Advanced Alchemy Tool or Advanced Cooking Tool costs more than you can sell it for... WHY? People will only craft them for their own use. If the Alchemy and Cooking utensils could actually turn a profit, then they could be an avenue for making some money. The same thing goes for pickaxes, lumbering axes, liquid extractors, etc.

So, what is the benefit to making tools more expensive, and ultimately the products of crafting more expensive? It gives the players an alternate way to make some money. Some players grind mobs alot. Some players would life skill in one of the many life-skill paths. Some players do a mix. This gives players an incentive to build out a node-empire and craft food, alchemic goods and to make a profit off some crafted items (perhaps finally?).

Now, I may not have the best viewpoint on this. I am sure others have thought about this before. If anyone else has some thoughts or input, that would be welcome. This was just something that always stuck out as being odd to me when I played live for so long.

I had considered alchemy stones. I just wasnt sure of the market for them. When i looked yesterday there were plenty sitting on the market. Once you have a great quality stone you're pretty good to go on that type. You could buy great quality stones from all 3 types.

I bought up the crafting ideas, not as a way to tunnel and focus efforts for crafting & money (not as a replacement for other higher yield processes) but to correct an odd issue and provide better value to items so that you could still make something off them if you chose to.

With a node empire, i could craft many things including alchemy stones.

Unfortunately after the patch on 23 Sept, the prices of crafted items nosedived into complete disappointment. A quick look at Consumables, Life tools in market place shows ridiculously low prices for the amount of time and materials needed to craft those items. Knight Combat Rations used to be above 140k silver each iirc.. now it is about 80k silver. As a result nobody is selling essential food buffs anymore because it simply isn't worth it. The only thing that doesn't seem to have taken a hit are alchemy stones, of which there are already plenty of green-yellow grade Life/Protection stones. Right now I'd say the only life skill worth going into is afk horse training as it is reliable/consistent money and doesn't take much time or money to set up. Plus, pearls are free so you can spam away at breeding resets.

You forgot about gathering, those hard and sharp drops are still good if you hit Master lifeskill in gathering.

Prices on marketplace more or less back to normal now so that's good again, thankfully.
