Upon registering on the Aion website, there was an error message:

    Code:
SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.
Unsurprisingly, the confirmation mail has not arrived. Can I get some help here?

    Email is me at ****

It normally can take from 1 second to 5 minutes max. Did you have a look at your spam folder ?

Yep. And I grepped my mail server logs. No relevant activity. Considering that error message above, this is unsurprising.

This is a mail server problem so not surprised you didn't get the mail as by the message, no email was ever sent to begin with. In any case I tried registering now and it worked fine, so give it another go. If it still fails, could use more info, such as the domain you are mailing activation to (such as @hotmail.com, not the full email)

Edit: Wait, judging by your grep mail log comment, I have a feeling you are hosting your own mail. You have to enable SSL and ports 25, 465 and 587 for automated mails like this to work.

I signed up using a different username and different email (same domain, same server) just now and it worked. I guess this was a transient mail server error on your side. My server works fine, as demonstrated by the correct mail delivery just now.

I'd still like to use my usual username and primary email address, so if you could find a 'resend confirmation mail' button somewhere, or just nuke the inactive account so I can register again, that'd be awesome.

Sometimes there are problems with the mail system especially when you are using yahoo instead of google. They somehow have identifiers such us .ph depending on the country code you're using. Try using it while registering.
