    Is there anyway to run the official client while running the Games Z client aswell?
    From what I've gathered the launcher tries to access the original BDO, would there be a way to path it to another copy of the client?

    You can just make a copy of your retail folder and point gamezbd launcher to that so you can use both without issues.
