Skill Issues

I've played with my Elyos char in lumiel server till lvl55 than i decided to start playing asmondian in siel. once i reached lvl 9 i did the ascension quest and diceded to be gladiator. the thing is, i reached lvl18 at the quest's end (pretty normal i think) and i lost the gathering skill, then i used .givemissingskills command and the gathering skill reapeared in craft tab. So my problem is that even with the skill present i still can't pick anything and i get the message that i need to have the gathering skill to perform the action.
again...
Check back -> skill present -> try to gather again -> same old message... Did anyone experienced this too? I'd like to improve my crafting skills as i'm sure i'm gonna need them later but still i'd like to know if this is normal or if there's a workaround for this issue at least to make me not become dissapointed everytime i put my efforts to no use.

Well with the ascension quest you would have to start gathering in Verteron instead of Poeta since you're a daeva now.

 

now i play asmondian. but i gess the same applies right? i should start gathering in the next city?
