Updating patch files

I just downloaded gamezbd private server for bdo today and it has been patching for a long time now, I don't think is doing anything. I have all my anti virus protection turned off after my mcafee expired and I never bothered with it. I have the windows 10 creater update. is there any help on how do I turn windows defender.
