I have almost 500. And using the calculator you provided and looking at stats, it says you have 700ish. Even if 840, it doesn't seem trolly enough lul.

This is on a chanter. Someone with arbiter unbuffed has right around 450 strike resist, You can add 50 from idian, 40 with scroll...and there is like a strike resist ring (1hr scroll) but no clue how much it adds. Oh ya and 55 from Hit mantra.
The base build is 700 vs 450.
    Equipment
    For comparison

And if you take into account that the possibility of Less crits = More blocks until someone says otherwise...

Naturally less crit = more block lul.

Unless crit/acc build. Then non-crits might still go through.

I'm just refering to the fact that block might be calculated afterwards...

    So say like this

    Attacks> Hit / Miss > Hit > Crit/Normal> Normal > Block/ No Block
    or
    Attacks > Hit/ Miss > Hit > Block/No Block > No Block > Crit/ Normal

The order is very important :/

I do know that the game checks Parry then evasion and then block but don't know where Crit/non crit is applied.

    - - - Updated - - -

Yea thats actually Evasion/ Parry/ Block ..forums hate me

    - - - Updated - - -

Just going to assume that Defence gets applied first in the equation.

Order is attack > hit/miss (evasion) > parry > block > crit > strike fortitude.
Thus you can't crit a blocked hit... though I've noticed weird mechanics with how block worked in game. Will post screenshots when I wake up.

Ok After a while i came to this conclusion as well...as i realized that in all their equations attack is applied last. This definitely makes me a little less enthusiastic to try this out..still 250 more strike resist just sounds mean. Comes down to a 100% chance to receive 20% less damage vs 20% chance to receive upwards of 70% less damage. Meh fk u aion too much work 2 test.

as far as i know, block is counted first, and then its the matter of critting or not.
once u attack someone it is decided if the atk is gona be blocked. if it doesnt get blocked, then it is worked if the atk will crit or not.

Well, depending on how the devs did the reverse engineering, things can go a bit different. I do remember the source code of an emulator I got my hands on which calculated crits BEFORE blocks/evades/etc. and, interestingly enough, seemed to work just like the 4.0 emulator we were running on.

Basically, program checks if hit was a crit, and if it was, it checks which of the four possible outcomes it was: Block/Parry/Evade/Normal, and turns it into a "crit" version. It also checks whether the attack came from the main hand.

Then again, this is not the code running on Retail and we don't know if it's the code running on gamez so me bringing this up is pretty much pointless and just a random fact more than anything D:

Weird, the order the code is in makes it seem like the exact opposite of how it works ingame. Whenever Crit is calculated, it is known for sure Evasion -> Parry -> Block is the game's checking order. Also Critical is only checked from the main hand, if the main hand crits, then the off-hand will crit too. If the main hand doesn't crit, the off-hand won't crit.

Also did an ingame test about Crit into Block hits a few weeks back. This is what I got, look carefully at the default non crit damage and the blocked hit damage. The damage almost the same as if the hit didn't get blocked at all.
