A wipe sounds brutal, but honestly, it might be the only way to get this game back on track. Giving back the real money spent is a HUGE incentive, though. Without that, a wipe is pointless. It's all or nothing, really.

Why do you think that wiping the server will be the solution?

People won't come flooding back to an outdated server just because it's been wiped. They might not come back at all and just go to retail or gamezbd competitors.
A server wipe won't change the issues of guild monopolies as they'll just create another guild.

With the logic of "everyone can progress together!" you should be resetting the server by the end of every year.

You'll just lose the players who've progressed already and who'll come back to their shit missing. You'll lose the people who enjoy the game but also have a life, like myself, and starting over would just entice me to go to a different private server.

Do you know what will bring players back?
+ Newer updates (like newer classes, etc)
    + more/better QoL changes
+ maybe reset the marketplace as it's dead
+ more transparency from the dev team (or even a roadmap or progress map)
+ communication when all the above takes place.

Do you know what won't bring players to the server?
    - Server wipe

A server wipe isn't the 'fix' you think it will be. It'll either kill the server entirely, or the balance of people that come/go will leave it in the same numbers state it's in today.
I myself would be one of the people to just go source their own open source corsair files and just host my own (outdated) server for myself and friends. Fuck this 'server wipe' shit. I've been playing for years and to think that'd amount to nothing because some no-lifers got bored and wanted a wipe?

The only way a wipe would be viable, is if ofc everyone got their microtransactions back (which wouldn't happen since that'd be used for the server management and ruin the economy of it), we get the latest retail version, and the server gets a lot of advertising. But we all know that won't happen.

If the team plan on doing a reset, I hope they announce it soon so I can leave now and feel less like I've wasted years on the server.

If a server wipe happens my 10+ guild will go back to gamez again, otherwise, there's no point going back to a dead server.

Knowing the new classes will be here in 2026 or 2027 would be nice. People just want a roadmap.

A server wipe is detrimental without new content. It'll primarily be punishing to the few folks that still play and while it might draw some initial interest to new players when they advertise it, they would still be starting up without access to outdated information (i.e. guides, etc). Maybe once the GameZ version is closer in line with current retail.

EDIT (as I researched AION a bit more): The argument that "It worked for GameZ AION" only really applies because NCSoft drove retail AION to the ground. They bled out players like crazy and made the experience in retail absolutely terrible. Thus making the private server experience better. It's almost guaranteed that retail AION bleeding out players and GameZ AION gaining players after the server wipe happened around the same time. In BDO's case, GameZ bled players out to retail only because of new content, the retail experience in BDO isn't bad aside from the much more punishing grind, but private server rates will always be more enjoyable. A server wipe isn't going to revive GameZ BDO, and if it does, it will be temporary. Especially temporary if Carl and the team are unable to update the server close to retail standards. Like the old adage says, "if you build it, they will come". If they can't "build it", as in, update GameZ BDO, the devs should simply be transparent and say so. Then make a call accordingly.

it has potential to revive entirely gamez from scratch because some believe the server we have now at a certain points which cannot be updated further after Corsair patch. Take a look at gamez AION, which @Carl did reboot entirely since Oct 2024 and quite success.

if the reason to not losing your shining, it just for your ego dude... smh
